This course investigates the biblical and personal foundations of spiritual growth known theologically as sanctification. It is designed to help the learner understand the impact of family history, personal development, and life experiences on one’s theological outlook, emotional maturity, relational patterns, moral decisions, and ministry effectiveness. This integrative course will explore God’s design for growth and how the individual might cooperate within the context of a developing relational christian spirituality

GOALS: As a result of completing the requirements for this course, learners will be able to:

  • Articulate key dynamics of spiritual growth.
  • Reflect on the role and importance of these dynamics in their own personal growth.
  • Interpret life experiences and circumstances from the biblical grid of God’s process of sanctifying work in a believer’s life.
  • Develop strategies to help facilitate the growth of other believers.

WHO WILL BENEFIT:

  • People who want to understand what God has been doing in their lives and are not sure how to cooperate with the Spirit’s sanctifying work.
  • People who are looked to for guidance and support by other believers.
  • People who feel called to journey with other believers in compassionate discipleship and mentoring relationships.

DR. CHRISTY MORR brings her passion and training in spiritual formation to facilitate the holistic development of students while at Grace. Her research interests include personal and interpersonal development with empirical work conducted in the area of adult attachment styles and relationship with God variables. She taught at Biola University and Talbot School of Theology before coming to Grace College and Seminary. While she focuses primarily in women’s ministries, she has served in a variety of leadership roles cross-culturally, in the local church and in the parachurch context. She has developed a number of Bible study materials, published in the Christian Education Journal and presented research findings at the North American Professors of Christian Education Conference, a society of which she is a member.
